There are 8 of these smaller rooms lined along the ground and first floors of The Blue Mansion, Penang. Each has its own personality with an intriguing story to tell. These quaint and cosy rooms are decked out with art or antique collections inherited from the family of Cheong Fatt Tze. A conscientious preservation of the grand man's elegant world in old George Town, coupled with new comforts of today's luxury accommodation, offers an authentic overnight sensation at our heritage hotel.

The Old Kitchen (Ground Floor)There is only one such room within the heritage hotel and is known as 'the room with the old stove'. The original mansion had no kitchens - all of them were sited in the 5-building domestic annexe across the road. As the family grew however, it became more practical to have kitchens in the main house as well. Stoves were then built into rooms in the rear. The period kitchen with firewood or charcoal cooking range still left in its original place is now used as a featured coffee table in this suite. The display of all kinds of period utensils and other paraphernalia also sets to fill this modern-day George Town boutique hotel room with a touch of Penang's old charm. The plunge pool bath in its massive bathroom in turn adds a touch of contemporary opulence.

This is a grand chamber, aptly designed and spacious enough to fit a family of 3. These 2 rooms, YANTAI and MANDARIN, both have a sitting room and dining lounge, also an ensuite bathroom with a tub and shower.YANTAI (1st Floor)Named after the town where CHANG YU winery was founded by Cheong Fatt Tze himself in 1892, now among the 10 greatest wineries in the world. This room commemorates his vision and connoisseurship in the idea of "a good life" and global taste.MANDARIN (1st Floor)Many may not know that Cheong Fatt Tze rose from a humble background to being honored by the Empress Dowager of China as the 'Mandarin of the Highest Order'. He is also known as China's last Mandarin and first Capitalist.
50s Room
The 50s Room is exceptionally unique, bearing no direct link to Cheong Fatt Tze himself, but serves instead as a tribute to an era of national enthusiasm and Western influence, following the end of the Japanese occupation in 1945. This Ground Floor room is spacious and features memorabilia from this wonderfully nostalgic era, curated personally by the owners of the mansion. It also features a decadent plunge pool, a hallmark of the indulgence and relaxation promised in this sumptuous mansion.
